Dr. Rhyd Lewis gives a talk on Graphs and Street Networks - Tools for Analysis and Visualisation on July 22nd, 2022 at the VIXI lab. The talk starts at 12pm.

This talk will consider various aspects related to graphs and networks, focussing particularly on how we can analyse and visualise their often very complicated structures. The first half of this talk will consider topics such as the (infamous) four-colour theorem, sociograms, and algorithms for graph visualisation.

In the second half, we will look at some tools that are available for analysing real world street networks. We will also look at some of my recent work on the (NP-hard) problem of finding fixed-length exercise routes on these maps.

Dr. Rhyd Lewis is a reader in mathematics and operational research at Cardiff University, Wales. He is an associate editor for the IMA Journal of Management Mathematics and the International Journal of Metaheuristics.
