VIS4ALL visualization-centered hackathon at UVic campus

From February 22nd to 24th, 2024, the collaborative efforts of the Design For People Lab (DFP Lab) from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the VIXI Lab from the University of Victoria (UVic) culminated in a visualization-centered hackathon at UVic's campus, titled "VIS4ALL".

VIXI Lab hosts 2023 Graphics Interface Conference

VIXI Lab were the hosts of the 2023 CHCCS/SCDHM Graphics Interface conference, the only conference for computer graphics and human computer interaction. The conference was held on the UVic campus in Victoria, from May 30 to June 2.

VIXI-Student Founded Chapter Spotlighted in ACM News

The University of Victoria’s Association for Computing Machinery Student Chapter is a UVic club that was founded and is currently led by a group of VIXI students. Their inaugural event, an interdisciplinary speaker panel hosted four professors from across the University of Victoria and was recently spotlighted in the December 2022 ACM Chapter Newsletter.

VIXI prof Miguel Nacenta presents a paper on infographics at SIGGRAPH 2022

Miguel Nacenta presents at ACM SIGGRAPH (the top conference in graphics and one of the most prestigious in Computer Science) the work that Johannes Lang and he have done in Infotypography. They looked at how people perceive typographic parameters. This could support the use of these parameters to represent information.

Mona successfully defended her MSc project

The engine of complex thinking with externalizations

New research and a new tool allowed us to investigate how people transform complex networks of ideas into linear textual structures. The results have been published at the International Journal of Human-Computer Studies.
