Machine Learning/Deep Learning/Computer Vision Short Term Support for Graduate Research
Looking for: Undergraduate Student, MSc Student
I’m looking for a UVic student to support a graduate student who is not an expert in ML/DL/CV in the development of some machine learning models based on computer vision for classification of (non-natural) images. Initially, this would entail around 20h of work, involving remote meetings and coding work, at the standard CS TA rate.
This work might lead to more similar work and there is a chance that it could also lead to authorship in a scientific publication. It also constitutes an opportunity to get a glimpse into research work, with minimal risk and just a short commitment.
Requirements/Skills
We require someone who has:
- already built machine learning architectures to work with images; preferably for classification, and preferably with existing pre-trained models such as VGG16 (and other more modern architectures);
- a good understanding of the principles of classification, training, prediction and validation;
- skill with writing python code for machine learning;
- familiarity with Keras and Tensorflow, perhaps Torch;
- does not mind working on other people’s code and can listen well to the needs and requirements stated by others.
