Visualization of Temporal Data in Archaeological Research Contexts


Looking for: Undergraduate Student, MSc Student

Archaeological data associated with is often difficult or expensive to date accurately. The result is that there is often much uncertainty in the dates associated with the dates of an object. However, it is still important to be able to investigate, create hypotheses, analyze and draw conclusions from that data. This project is about creating visualizations that are appropriate for archaeologists.

Particularly Interesting If

  • You are interested in being an author of a publication (not for sure, will depend on mileage)
  • You are interested in Archaeology, History or the visualization of Uncertainty

What Activities You Will Be Expected to Do

  • Attending meetings
  • Reading scientific papers
  • Writing
  • Designing visualizations and sketching
  • Implementing visualizations
  • Testing visualizations


Requirements/Skills

  • Some background in Visualization
  • Programming:
    • D3 or other visualization frameworks
